Reflections on Mental Health, Neurodiversity and Everyday Life

This blog brings together three spaces for reflection and conversation: The Curious Ground, What the Stigma?, and The Working Mind.

Each explores different aspects of mental health, neurodiversity and everyday experience through thoughtful reflection, cultural insight and professional understanding.

As an integrative counsellor, I hold client confidentiality at the centre of my work. For this reason, I never share personal client stories or identifying details.

Instead, these blogs draw on broader themes that shape our understanding of ourselves and the world around us — including culture, media, shared experiences, and the conversations happening within mental health and SEND communities.

The aim is not to provide quick answers or therapy, but to offer space for curiosity, reflection and greater understanding.

The Curious Ground

The Curious Ground is a reflective space where popular culture meets everyday experience.

Through film, music, media and shared cultural narratives, this section explores the emotional themes that many of us recognise but don’t always have the language to describe.

Here you’ll find reflections that connect culture with the kinds of thoughts, feelings and experiences that often emerge in counselling ; identity, relationships, belonging, resilience and change.

What the Stigma?

What the Stigma? is a space for honest and compassionate conversations about mental health and neurodiversity.

Rooted in both lived and professional experience, these reflections explore the assumptions, labels and misunderstandings that often surround mental health and difference.

The aim is to challenge stigma, encourage curiosity and build greater understanding within the SEND and mental health communities.

The Working Mind

The Working Mind explores how everyday workplace experiences can shape our mental health and wellbeing.

Work can provide purpose and connection, but it can also bring challenges that affect emotional wellbeing particularly for neurodivergent individuals navigating environments that may not always feel inclusive or supportive.

Written for both employees and employers, these reflections explore themes such as workplace stress, neurodiversity at work, communication and psychological safety, while offering thoughtful insight into building healthier and more supportive working environments.

A Space for Reflection

Writing offers another way to explore the themes that often arise in counselling the things we think about quietly, the experiences we share collectively, and the stories we encounter in everyday life.

Sometimes a moment in a film, a line in a song, or a conversation in the workplace can open up deeper questions about who we are and how we live.

These blogs are simply an invitation to pause, reflect and explore those moments with curiosity.

Counselling and Support

If you are exploring these topics because something in your own life feels difficult right now, counselling can offer a safe and supportive space to talk and reflect.
